Drone Strike Hits Belarusian Tourist Bus at Russian Border Crossing

A Ukrainian drone attack injured two people traveling aboard a tourist bus from the Belarusian capital Minsk to the Russian Black Sea resort town of Anapa on Thursday, Russian state media reported. The incident occurred at the Krasniy Kamen border crossing between Russia and Belarus, according to the government in Russia's Bryansk region.

The Bryansk regional government told Sputnik Belarus news agency that two drivers suffered minor injuries in the attack. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine regarding the incident.

Bryansk Region Regularly Targeted by Ukrainian Shelling

Bryansk and the neighboring Kursk region frequently come under Ukrainian shelling, resulting in injuries, deaths, and damage to local infrastructure. Last month, Russia accused Ukraine of conducting a deadly drone strike on a bus carrying Belarusian schoolchildren in a separate incident in the Bryansk region. Ukraine's military denied attacking that bus, which was transporting members of a youth soccer team from Belarus to southern Russia.

Broader Context of the Russia-Ukraine War

Russia has regularly hit Ukrainian towns and cities, including Kyiv, since it began its war in Ukraine in February 2022. Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians. Kyiv has increased drone strikes on Russian territory in recent months, aiming to weaken Moscow's economy and force an end to the war, which has killed thousands of Ukrainian civilians.
