Rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Lahore and its adjoining areas in the early hours of Wednesday, bringing relief from the prevailing hot weather and turning conditions pleasant across the provincial capital. The downpour was reported in several localities, including Defence, Ghazi Road, Ferozepur Road, Walton, Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Gulshan Ravi, Jail Road, Gulberg, Garden Town, Kalma Chowk and Sanda, among other areas.
Power Supply Disrupted
However, the rain also disrupted electricity supply in parts of the city after several feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) tripped, causing inconvenience to residents. The sudden tripping left many households without power for several hours, affecting daily routines and essential services.
Weather Forecast
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the current spell of rain is likely to continue during the day. Residents are advised to remain cautious as more downpours are expected, possibly leading to further disruptions. The PMD also warned of gusty winds and urban flooding in low-lying areas.
