High-speed rickshaws fitted with modified exhaust systems and blaring loudspeakers have turned the city's roads into virtual race tracks, while blatant violations of traffic laws have become a routine occurrence.
Noise Pollution and Safety Risks
According to local residents, the deafening noise created by these rickshaws has made it nearly impossible to hear oneself in markets, residential neighborhoods, and on major roads across the city. Rickshaws carrying illegal modifications are not only contributing to noise and environmental pollution but are also increasing the risk of road accidents.
Public Demands for Action
Members of the public have urged the district administration and traffic police to take immediate and impartial action against those responsible. They have called for a sustained crackdown on such elements to restore law and order on the roads and ensure that citizens can enjoy a safe, peaceful, and regulation-compliant traffic environment.
In a separate development, the Supreme Court remarked that a judge with a tarnished reputation cannot serve, underscoring the importance of integrity in the judiciary.
