An old feud turned deadly in the Badwan area of Qila Abdullah district, Balochistan, on Sunday when unidentified armed assailants opened fire, killing four people and critically injuring a young girl. The deceased were identified as Obaidullah, Ziaullah, Aimal, and Muhammad Shahid, while the injured girl, Bibi Sania, was rushed to a medical facility.
Attack Details and Immediate Aftermath
According to local officials, the attackers targeted the victims in a sudden assault. The bodies and the injured were initially taken to the Trauma Centre at Mizei Adda, where doctors pronounced the four men dead on arrival. Bibi Sania was later referred to Quetta for advanced treatment due to the severity of her injuries.
Protest and Highway Blockade
Grieving relatives of the deceased blocked the Quetta-Chaman National Highway with the bodies, bringing all traffic to a standstill. The protest continued for several hours until Deputy Commissioner Munawar Hussain Magsi and other senior administrative and police officials intervened. After lengthy negotiations, the highway was reopened and traffic resumed.
Official Response and Investigation
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Senior police officials visited the site and assured the public that steps would be taken to apprehend the perpetrators. The motive is believed to be an old enmity, though further details are awaited.
