PPP Demands Action Against Alleged Govt Machinery Use in GB

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has strongly condemned the alleged misuse of government machinery during the ongoing election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan, despite restrictions imposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). In a statement issued from Lahore, PPP central Punjab general secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza expressed serious concerns over the presence of federal ministers in the region under the guise of a visit by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Allegations of Interference

Murtaza specifically named Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Amir Muqam, and Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, accusing them of interfering in the electoral process. He claimed that their activities, along with the use of official resources, have raised serious questions about the transparency, fairness, and impartiality of the elections.

Call for Immediate Action

The PPP leader urged the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission to take immediate notice of the matter. He demanded that notices be issued to all those involved in the alleged violation of electoral laws. Murtaza emphasized that his party would not allow its mandate to be usurped and expressed confidence that the June 7 vote would result in a victory for the PPP in Gilgit-Baltistan.
