PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohat Muhammad Nawaz chaired a meeting of the District Monitoring Implementation Committee (DMIC) on Tuesday to review the prevailing law and order situation and measures taken by relevant departments. The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, police, excise, and other line departments.
Briefing on Law and Order
During the session, participants briefed the DC on the current security situation and departmental actions. Addressing the gathering, DC Nawaz emphasized that all available resources must be utilized to implement the revised National Action Plan to maintain peace. He added that elements disturbing law and order would not be tolerated.
Strict Action Against Illegal Activities
The DC directed officials to take strict action against illegal activities and adopt a zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He stressed the importance of coordination among departments to ensure effective enforcement.
Anti-Smuggling Meeting
Separately, an anti-smuggling meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance & Planning). The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, police, and departments of food, excise, and agriculture. Officials were instructed to remain present at joint check posts and closely monitor the movement of food items, goods, and unregistered vehicles to curb smuggling effectively.
The DC reiterated that no leniency would be shown towards those involved in unlawful activities, and urged all departments to work collectively for the safety and security of the district.
