President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday paid glowing tributes to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider, the hero of the 1999 Kargil War, on his 27th martyrdom anniversary.
President Zardari's Tribute
In a statement, President Zardari said the extraordinary sacrifice of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed will live forever. He emphasized that the martyrs of Pakistan are a national asset and their sacrifices will always be remembered with appreciation and respect. The president added that the nation is indebted to its martyrs, as their sacrifices have made Pakistan's defence impregnable.
Prime Minister Shehbaz's Remarks
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to the Kargil war hero. In his statement, the premier described the extraordinary bravery and eternal sacrifice of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed in the most adverse circumstances as a shining chapter in Pakistan's military history. He noted that this sacrifice is a testament to the highest traditions of loyalty to the motherland and bravery.
The prime minister further stated that the defence of the beloved homeland is a sacred duty, and the great sacrifices made by the sons of the pure land are the guarantor of peace and sovereignty today.
Government's Resolve
PM Shehbaz reiterated the firm resolve of the government and the people of Pakistan to stand shoulder to shoulder with their armed forces against any external or internal threat facing the country. He said that the great sacrifice of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed reminds us that our freedom and sovereignty are due to the sacred blood of our martyrs.
