The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, known as Ithra, has unveiled an extraordinary Eid Al-Adha program featuring more than 30 cultural activities and experiences running from May 28 to 31. Under the theme "Ithra Eid: Moments We Share," the celebrations will convert Ithra into vibrant cultural hubs inspired by six distinct cultures from across the Islamic world.
Journey Through Scent and Storytelling
Visitors will commence their experience at the plaza with the "Story in the Scent" exhibit, where they can explore fragrances inspired by Saudi cities, ranging from traditional bakhoor to delicate floral blends. Participants will learn the art of scent mixing, capturing the essence of Eid traditions. At the "Grandma's Eid Tales" corner, guests can create a live mural using virtual reality, blending nostalgic Eid memories with modern digital storytelling.
Live Performances and Cultural Exhibitions
For three consecutive days, the Ithra Theater will host Gulf singer Humoud AlKhudher, who returns for a live performance celebrating Eid through music and uplifting melodies. Visitor Reem Al-Qahtani shared with Arab News: "We always look forward to Ithra's Eid programs because they feel different each year. The combination of music, culture, and interactive activities makes it a complete celebration, not just an event." Her brother Abdullah Al-Qahtani expressed particular excitement about the cultural themes and live shows. "Seeing various Islamic cultures represented in one place is unique. I am also eagerly awaiting AlKhudher's concert, as it brings back many fond memories," he said.
Exhibitions and Family Activities
The "Tafasahu" exhibition invites visitors to reflect on belonging through the traditional majlis, reinterpreting it as a social and cultural space via stories, memories, and everyday moments. At the library, families can enjoy storytelling sessions about Eid traditions and togetherness, along with interactive activities such as writing Eid greetings and participating in educational challenges and competitions. The Children's Museum will offer a virtual journey into Eid celebrations across cultures, where children can explore traditional clothing, engage in hands-on design activities, and watch a short film highlighting the beauty of Eid Al-Adha traditions.
