Italy has announced a special quota for 10,500 Pakistani workers over the next three years, marking a significant step in bilateral labor cooperation. The announcement was made by outgoing Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, during a ceremony held in Islamabad to celebrate Italian National Day and Republic Day.
Increased Visas for Students
Ambassador Armellin also revealed that Italy has issued over 3,200 visas to Pakistani students for the 2025-26 academic year, reflecting the growing educational and cultural ties between the two nations. This increase in student visas underscores Italy's commitment to fostering academic exchange and mutual understanding.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The special worker quota is part of broader efforts to enhance economic and diplomatic relations. Italy and Pakistan have been working closely to expand cooperation in various sectors, including trade, education, and labor mobility. The new quota is expected to provide significant employment opportunities for Pakistani workers in Italy.
Ambassador Armellin emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it demonstrates Italy's recognition of Pakistan's skilled workforce and its potential to contribute to the Italian economy. She expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations and the positive impact of such agreements on both countries.
