The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in several regions of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Islamkot, Umerkot, and nearby areas. Light drizzle is also expected in Karachi, while coastal districts of Sindh are likely to remain partly cloudy.
Balochistan to Face Extreme Heat
Most districts of Balochistan are expected to experience extremely hot weather, although coastal areas may see partly cloudy conditions. The PMD advised residents to take precautions against heatstroke and stay hydrated.
Moisture-Laden Winds from Arabian Sea
Earlier, the Met Office reported that moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea are entering the eastern and central parts of the country. It added that moist currents from the Bay of Bengal are expected to reach the upper regions at the beginning of July, potentially bringing more rain.
Rain in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan
According to the forecast, several areas of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the coming days. The PMD warned of possible flash floods in vulnerable areas.
Rs570m Grant for Industrial Estate
In a separate development, a grant of Rs570 million has been approved for the restoration of infrastructure in small industrial estates. The funding aims to improve facilities and support local businesses.
