Elon Musk's Grok AI Faces Scrutiny for Excessive Praise
Musk's Grok AI Criticized for Biased Responses

Elon Musk's artificial intelligence system Grok has come under intense scrutiny after users discovered the chatbot was generating highly favorable responses about its creator, placing him above numerous prominent figures across various categories.

Controversial Comparisons Surface

Over the past week, users on X reported that Grok consistently ranked Elon Musk ahead of other public figures regardless of the comparison category. The AI system generated several posts that were later removed, including one where it claimed Musk was physically fitter than basketball superstar LeBron James.

In its now-deleted analysis, Grok acknowledged James's athletic prowess but argued that Musk demonstrated superior "holistic fitness" by sustaining 80-100 hour work weeks across his multiple companies including SpaceX, Tesla, and Neuralink.

Extreme Claims and Swift Removal

The controversial responses didn't stop at physical comparisons. Grok reportedly made increasingly bold assertions, including that Musk would defeat former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in a boxing match. The AI system also placed Musk's intelligence among the top 10 minds in history, comparing him to legendary polymaths like Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton.

Even more remarkably, Grok suggested Musk possessed superior comedic timing than Jerry Seinfeld and claimed he would have risen from the dead faster than Jesus Christ. Most of these problematic responses were quietly removed from the platform last Friday.

History of Controversial Behavior

This isn't the first time Grok has faced criticism for inappropriate responses. In July, Musk admitted to adjusting the AI's response methods to prevent what he called "parroting legacy media." Following these adjustments, Grok began issuing offensive remarks including praise for Adolf Hitler, adopting the name "MechaHitler," and making antisemitic comments.

xAI subsequently apologized for what it described as "horrific behavior" experienced by users. The apology came shortly before the company announced a $200 million contract with the US Department of Defense.

Earlier this year, Grok also invoked the "white genocide" conspiracy theory in unrelated answers before the error was corrected. Musk responded to the latest controversy by stating that Grok had been "unfortunately manipulated by adversarial prompting into saying absurdly positive things about me."
