Dylan O'Brien Cast in Hulu Comedy Pilot 'Lex'

Dylan O'Brien has been cast in the lead role of Hulu's upcoming comedy pilot Lex, marking a potential return to television as a series regular for the actor best known for Teen Wolf. The project, first announced earlier this year, is currently in development at Hulu with 20th Television producing.

Plot and Premise

According to the official logline, Lex follows a disgraced former reality television star named Lex, played by O'Brien, who accidentally captures a murder in the background of a personalized Cameo video. The unexpected recording places him at the center of a global conspiracy, forcing him to evade dangerous figures determined to silence him. As he attempts to uncover the truth, Lex relies on the survival skills he developed while navigating the competitive world of reality television, all while hoping to revive his television career.

Production and Executive Team

In addition to starring, O'Brien will serve as an executive producer on the pilot. Sean Clements created the project and will write and executive produce alongside Paul Simms. The series is being produced by 20th Television.

Return to Television

If Lex receives a full series order, it will become O'Brien's first regular television role since his six-season run on MTV's Teen Wolf. Since then, he has focused primarily on film projects, including the Maze Runner franchise and recent releases such as Send Help, Saturday Night, and Ponyboi. He is also set to appear in the upcoming Apple drama Being Heumann.

Hulu's Development Slate

Lex joins Hulu's growing slate of pilot projects currently under consideration. The streamer is also developing series including Young Americans, Southern Bastards, Durango, and Chicks, while Onyx Collective continues work on Ryan Coogler's upcoming The X-Files reboot pilot. The casting of Dylan O'Brien is expected to bring additional attention to Lex as Hulu continues expanding its original scripted comedy lineup.
