Students Demand Immediate Exam Schedule

Students of Government Postgraduate College, Landi Kotal, have voiced serious concern over the prolonged delay in their examinations and warned of protests if the University of Peshawar fails to announce a revised schedule without further delay. Addressing a press conference at the Landi Kotal Press Club on Wednesday, representatives of the students’ union, including Daud Shinwari and Hamid Yaseen, said the examinations had been postponed in February because of tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

University Accused of Neglect

The students said the university had assured them that examinations would be held once the situation returned to normal. However, despite repeated assurances, the University of Peshawar administration has yet to issue a fresh examination schedule, leaving hundreds of students uncertain about their academic future. The students described the continued postponement as detrimental to education and urged the provincial government and the university authorities to resolve the matter immediately.

Allegations of Discrimination

They alleged that examinations for students of other colleges affiliated with the University of Peshawar had already been conducted, while those enrolled at Government Postgraduate College, Landi Kotal, remained in limbo. They said that despite facing numerous challenges at the college, students had remained committed to their education and were now seeking timely action from the authorities.

Ultimatum to Authorities

The students appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the University of Peshawar administration, elected representatives and other relevant officials to issue an official examination notification by Monday. They warned that if their demands continued to be ignored, they would lock the college gates and stage protest demonstrations, including blocking the main highway from next week.
