Abu Dhabi hosts Round 4 of Khaled bin Mohamed Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Abu Dhabi is set to host the fourth round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (Gi) from June 5 to 7 at the Mubadala Arena, as announced by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UAEJJF). This championship is a key platform for Emirati athletes to develop and compete at international levels.

Competition Schedule

The event spans three days: the first day features men and women in Under-18, Adults, and Masters categories. The second day is dedicated to boys and girls in Under-14 and Under-16 divisions, while the final day hosts Under-12 and Kids categories.

Club Standings

Clubs compete for points in the overall rankings. Currently, Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club leads, followed by Al-Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club and Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club.

Fahad Ali Al-Shamsi, secretary-general of the federation, emphasized the championship's role: “It plays an important role in the domestic season by giving clubs regular opportunities to compete and develop athletes across all age groups. The championship helps clubs build strong teams and supports long-term development from youth to Adults and Masters divisions. Gi competitions bring a unique technical challenge, requiring strong control, tactical awareness, and effective match management.”

He added: “Family attendance remains an important part, especially during the UAE’s Year of the Family, as it creates a positive environment for athletes and supports their development on and off the mats.”

Ribamar Santiago, coach of Baniyas Club, stated: “Leading the overall standings gives us extra motivation to work hard and maintain performance. At this stage, success comes down to small details, particularly in Gi competitions where control and smart point management make the difference. We expect strong competition from clubs like Al-Ain and Sharjah. Round four will be an important test for all teams.”
