KPRA Sales Tax Revenue Jumps 30% to Rs23.26bn

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has announced a substantial increase in its revenue collection for the first half of the current fiscal year, showcasing significant growth in the provincial tax net.

Substantial Growth in Tax Collection

According to official figures released on Thursday, the authority collected Rs23.26 billion specifically from sales tax on services between July and December of the fiscal year 2025-26. This marks a notable 30 per cent increase compared to the Rs17.92 billion gathered in the same six-month period of the previous fiscal year. The growth translates to an additional Rs5.34 billion in revenue from this key tax head.

Breakdown of Total Revenue

The overall revenue collected by KPRA in the first half of FY 2025-26 reached Rs26.62 billion. This total comprises the Rs23.26 billion from sales tax on services and Rs3.36 billion from the Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC). In comparison, the total revenue for the corresponding period last year was Rs23.81 billion, which included Rs17.92 billion from sales tax and Rs5.89 billion from IDC.

Director General KPRA, Fouzia Iqbal, praised the performance of her team, attributing the impressive growth to effective planning and rigorous enforcement measures. She stated that the remarkable increase is a direct result of the team's sound strategy, hard work, and professional competence.

"With the same commitment and organized approach, KPRA has the full potential to achieve its targets for the current fiscal year," she affirmed.

Iqbal also extended gratitude to the taxpayers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their trust and cooperation, highlighting their role as vital partners in this achievement. Furthermore, she acknowledged the crucial guidance and support provided by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Chief Minister's Advisor on Finance, Muzammil Aslam, in implementing reforms and enhancing the province's revenue collection framework.

The authority's media wing indicated that this growth reflects a successful expansion of the tax net and improved enforcement across the province's diverse services sector.
