Heavy gunfire and an explosion were reported near Gulistan-e-Jauhar in Karachi on Saturday night, prompting an immediate response from police and other law enforcement agencies. According to police officials, personnel from several departments were rushed to the area after reports of firing and an explosion near Mosmiyat Chowrangi.
Security Forces Cordon Off Area
Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the surrounding area as police teams began assessing the situation. So far, no casualties or injuries have been confirmed.
Chief Minister Takes Notice
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the reports and sought a detailed report from the Sindh Inspector General of Police and the Karachi Additional Inspector General, a spokesperson said. The chief minister contacted senior police officials and directed them to respond without delay, determine the nature of the incident, and take all necessary measures.
Specialised Units Deployed
Specialised units, including the Rapid Response Force and police commandos, were also deployed to the area to help bring the situation under control. As a precaution, authorities closed the road linking Mosmiyat Chowrangi with Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 and Kamran Chowrangi. Police also blocked the route from Mosmiyat Chowrangi to Chaman Iqbal Colony as part of the security arrangements.
