Rawalpindi Girl Throat Slit, Suspect Arrested

An 18-month-old girl, Aimen Fatima, was critically injured after a man allegedly slit her throat while she was playing outside her home in the Dhamiyal Police Station area of Rawalpindi. Acting on the orders of City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani, police registered a case and arrested the suspect, identified as Ejaz, a relative of the victim’s mother.

Incident Details

According to the FIR lodged by Constable Jawadul Hassan, who was performing security duty at Dhamiyal police station, police received information that a young girl had been attacked in Street No. 6, Girja Road. Upon reaching the scene, officers found that Aimen Fatima had sustained a severe knife wound to her neck. Initial inquiries revealed that an unidentified person had attacked the child with the apparent intention of killing her. She was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Rawalpindi, where her condition was stated to be critical.

Investigation and Arrest

Police officials said preliminary investigations revealed that both of the child’s parents are alive and that her mother works as an entertainment presenter. The child had walked outside the house while playing when the suspect attacked her. Further investigation, conducted from all angles after the CPO took notice of the incident, revealed that the suspect, Ejaz, is a relative of the victim’s mother. Police said he frequently visited the family and allegedly wanted to develop a closer relationship with her, but she rejected his advances.

Suspect Confession

According to police, human intelligence confirmed that the suspect had been seen in the locality on the day of the incident and had visited the family’s house. He was subsequently arrested. A police spokesperson said the suspect confessed that he attempted to kill the child because of a personal grudge. Police added that efforts are underway to arrest any accomplices or facilitators involved in the incident. Police said the investigation is continuing and all aspects of the incident are being examined in detail.
