The 9th of Muharram-ul-Haram is being observed across Pakistan today with solemnity and respect to honor the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. Majalis (religious gatherings) are being held in all major and small cities, while processions of Tazia and Alam are also being taken out in various locations.
Main Procession in Islamabad
In the federal capital, the main procession of 9th Muharram commenced from Imambargah G-6/2 this afternoon. The Islamabad Capital Territory Police and Islamabad Traffic Police have implemented comprehensive security measures to ensure the procession proceeds without incident. Inspector General Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that more than 1,000 officials from the district police and traffic police have been deployed to secure the procession route and manage traffic flow. Chief Traffic Police Officer Kainat Azhar Khan inspected the entire route today and issued on-the-spot directives to traffic police personnel on duty. A central control room has been established at Safe City to monitor the procession in real time.
Youm-e-Ashur to Be Observed Tomorrow
Meanwhile, Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram, will be observed across the country tomorrow with due solemnity to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions. Mourning processions will be held in all cities and towns. Scholars and orators (Ulema and Zakireen) will highlight the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of the Karbala tragedy.
Security Arrangements Across the Country
Mourning processions are also being taken out nationwide today to mark the 9th of Muharram, with Tazia and Zuljanah processions paying tribute to the martyrs of Karbala and emphasizing their unprecedented sacrifice for Islam. Authorities have made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incidents during Muharram-ul-Haram. Police and law enforcement agencies are on high alert, with additional personnel deployed at sensitive locations and along procession routes.
