The Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed on Thursday that the mandatory online registration for Hajj 2027 is proceeding without interruption, enabling prospective pilgrims to complete the process from home. A spokesperson stated that data from the Hajj Management System, developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), shows a strong nationwide response.
Registration Numbers and Demographics
More than 80,000 applicants registered within the first three days of the campaign. Among them, those choosing Karachi as their departure station form the largest group, followed by Lahore and Islamabad. The registered pilgrims include approximately 47,000 men and 33,000 women. Officials noted that the majority of applicants are aged between 25 and 50 years, which they described as encouraging.
Educational Background of Applicants
According to educational data from the system, around 1,000 registered applicants hold PhD degrees, 17,000 possess master’s degrees, 21,000 have bachelor’s qualifications, and 12,000 have completed intermediate (FA) education. This breakdown highlights the diverse educational profile of intending pilgrims.
Digital Transformation of Hajj Operations
The Ministry emphasized that, with NITB’s support, the Hajj operation is being transformed into a fully paperless and end-to-end digital system, aimed at enhancing efficiency and transparency. The registration campaign will continue during public holidays, and details regarding Hajj expenses and other operational arrangements are to be announced in the second phase.
