The City Traffic Police Lahore has dismissed four traffic wardens from service and demoted a traffic inspector after they were found guilty of negligence, misconduct, abuse of authority and corruption, according to a departmental spokesperson.
Disciplinary Action Ordered by Chief Traffic Officer
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi ordered strict disciplinary action against the officials as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability within the department. The dismissed officials include Senior Traffic Warden Ali and Traffic Wardens Mubeen, Farooq and Imran. The senior warden had previously been posted at the Liberty Licensing Centre.
In addition to the dismissals, Traffic Inspector Khadim was demoted to the rank of traffic warden for one year, while his annual increments were also stopped for three years.
Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Corruption
The CTO said the disciplinary measures reflected the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, misconduct, mistreatment of citizens and misuse of authority. He added that officers found involved in such practices were being made examples to deter others from engaging in similar conduct.
CTO Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi expressed his resolve to making the accountability process more effective within the Lahore Traffic Police, stressing that corruption and abuse of authority would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Commitment to Transparency and Professionalism
He said the department remained committed to ensuring transparency, professionalism and public service while taking strict action against officials found violating departmental rules and regulations. The action comes as part of a broader crackdown on misconduct within the traffic police force.
