Punjab Extends Drone Ban for 30 More Days

The Punjab government has extended the enforcement of Section 144 across the province, keeping the complete ban on flying drones in outdoor areas in place due to security concerns. According to the Punjab Home Department, the restriction on outdoor drone operations has been extended for another 30 days under Section 144.

Decision Based on Security Situation

Officials said the decision was made in light of the prevailing security situation and to ensure public safety. The provincial government clarified that drones will remain prohibited in open spaces. However, the limited use of small drones will be permitted during indoor events held at halls and marquees. Organisers of such events will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of drones.

Exemptions and Enforcement

Intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions have been exempted from the restriction. The ban was imposed by the Punjab Home Secretary under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. A spokesperson for the Home Department said maintaining public safety, preserving law and order, and protecting lives and property remain the government's top priorities. Authorities and police across Punjab have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the orders.
