RAWALPINDI: Pakistan's Armed Forces on Sunday commemorated the 27th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan, paying tribute to his exceptional bravery, unwavering devotion and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the country. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, joined the Armed Forces in honouring the Nishan-e-Haider recipient on his 27th martyrdom anniversary.
Tribute from Military Leadership
The military's media wing said Captain Karnal Sher Khan displayed extraordinary gallantry and resolute leadership during the 1999 Kargil conflict while defending the motherland against overwhelming odds. Leading from the front with exceptional determination, he embraced martyrdom in keeping with the finest traditions of the Pakistan Army, leaving behind a lasting legacy of honour, valour and selfless service, the ISPR said.
Enduring Legacy of Bravery
The statement added that his sacrifice continues to inspire generations of Pakistanis and remains a symbol of courage, patriotism and steadfast commitment to Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan also reaffirmed their resolve to uphold the ideals for which Captain Karnal Sher Khan laid down his life, vowing that his legacy will continue to endure in the nation's history.
