US Plans Trump Visit to India Early Next Year

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the United States is working to arrange a visit by President Donald Trump to India early next year as the two countries pursue a bilateral trade agreement. Rubio made the remarks in an interview with Indian media outlet IANS, published on Saturday.

Rubio to Travel to India This Year

Rubio indicated he is likely to travel to India later this year to lay the groundwork for the president’s visit. “We’re working towards sometime early next year to have the president come,” Rubio told IANS. The announcement comes after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Trump last week on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in France, where Trump described their conversation as “very good.”

India Pushes for Trump Visit

India has been pressing for months for a Trump visit, potentially as part of a broader meeting that includes Japan and Australia. The visit is expected to focus on strengthening economic ties and finalizing a bilateral trade deal. According to IANS, Rubio’s interview highlighted the administration’s commitment to deepening relations with India.
