Russia claimed on Saturday that its military had taken control of a settlement in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region. According to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces captured the village of Novoskeliuvate. The village is located approximately 31 kilometers (19.2 miles) north of the town of Huliaipole, which Moscow had previously claimed to have captured in December.
No Immediate Comment from Ukraine
Ukrainian authorities have not immediately commented on Russia's claim. Independent verification of the claim is difficult due to the ongoing war and the lack of access to the area.
This development is part of Russia's broader military campaign in eastern and southern Ukraine, where it has been attempting to expand its territorial control.
