Pakistan's Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi visited the National Logistics Corporation's (NLC) logistics centre in Kashgar on Tuesday, where he was briefed on the organisation's expanding cross-border logistics operations aimed at enhancing trade and connectivity between Pakistan, China and the wider Central Asian region.
Ambassador Briefed on NLC Infrastructure
During the visit, the ambassador received a comprehensive presentation on NLC's logistics infrastructure, transport network and operational facilities established to facilitate the seamless movement of cargo across international borders. Officials highlighted the corporation's growing contribution to regional supply chains and its efforts to improve the efficiency of trade routes linking Pakistan with western China and neighbouring Central Asian states.
Ambassador Praises NLC's Role in Bilateral Trade
Ambassador Hashmi praised the National Logistics Corporation for its significant contribution to promoting Pakistan-China trade and strengthening economic connectivity under the framework of bilateral cooperation. He described the organisation's performance as highly commendable, noting that its logistics infrastructure has become an important pillar supporting the expanding commercial partnership between the two countries.
He observed that the logistics facilities established by NLC in Kashgar and Tashkurgan have acquired strategic importance for bilateral trade, as they provide efficient handling, storage and transportation services for goods moving across the Pakistan-China border. He said such infrastructure would play an increasingly important role in supporting higher trade volumes and improving supply chain efficiency as economic cooperation between the two countries continues to deepen.
NLC Expanding to Central Asian Markets
During the briefing, NLC officials informed the ambassador that the corporation's logistics centres are facilitating the uninterrupted movement of goods not only between Pakistan and China but also onward to major Central Asian markets, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The network also provides access to broader international markets, enabling exporters and importers to benefit from improved regional connectivity and more efficient trade corridors.
NLC's Role in CPEC and China Operations
Officials further briefed Ambassador Hashmi that NLC continues to play an active and vital role in supporting the successful implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by strengthening logistics infrastructure and ensuring reliable transport services for cross-border commerce. The ambassador was also informed that NLC has established a wholly owned logistics company in China, reflecting the organisation's long-term commitment to expanding its operational footprint and providing integrated logistics solutions within the Chinese market.
Modern Fleet Enhances Trade Connectivity
NLC's fleet of modern transport vehicles is helping further strengthen Pakistan-China trade relations by ensuring faster, safer and more efficient cargo movement across the border. The corporation's expanding logistics services are also contributing a new dimension to the growing trade connectivity between Pakistan and China, reinforcing efforts by both countries to deepen economic integration and promote regional trade through enhanced transport and logistics cooperation.
