KP Health Dept, Greenstar Sign Pact to Revamp Basic Healthcare Units
KP, Greenstar Sign Agreement to Strengthen Basic Health Units

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken a significant step to overhaul its primary healthcare system through a new strategic partnership. The provincial Health Department's Primary Health Care Reforms Project has entered into a formal agreement with Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan. The pact aims to fundamentally improve basic healthcare facilities and service delivery for citizens across the province.

A Strategic Alliance for Better Healthcare

The agreement was formally signed during a ceremony held at the Health Secretariat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This collaboration is structured as a public-private partnership (PPP), a model increasingly used to leverage expertise and resources for public welfare. The core objective is to strengthen the network of Basic Health Units (BHUs) throughout KP.

The signing was conducted by Dr. Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman, the Chief Executive Officer of Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan, and Dr. Ikramullah Khan, the Project Director of the Primary Health Care Reforms Project. The event was attended by senior officials from both entities, underscoring its importance.

Addressing Critical Gaps in the System

The partnership is designed to tackle some of the most persistent challenges in the province's healthcare landscape. A key focus area is addressing the shortage of human resources at the grassroots level. Under the agreement, Greenstar will cooperate with the KP Health Department to deploy trained medical staff at selected health facilities. These facilities will be identified by the Primary Health Care Reforms Project.

Beyond staffing, the collaboration aims to make service delivery more effective. This means streamlining processes, ensuring the availability of essential medicines and equipment, and improving the overall patient experience at BHUs. The ultimate goal is to provide the public with reliable, quality medical services closer to their homes.

Government's Commitment to Health Reforms

The ceremony saw the presence of high-profile figures from the KP government, including Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman and Secretary Health Shahidullah Khan. Their participation highlighted the government's direct involvement and support for this initiative.

In his concluding remarks, Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman lauded the agreement as a crucial move. He termed it an important step towards improving primary healthcare services and strengthening the overall health system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The minister also reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare facilities reach every citizen.

This partnership between the KP Health Department and Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan represents a proactive approach to solving systemic issues. By combining public oversight with private sector efficiency, the project promises to bring tangible improvements to basic healthcare access and quality for millions of people in the province.
