LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued directives to relevant authorities to ensure strict adherence to timelines, quality standards, and transparency in all road construction, repair, and rehabilitation projects across the province. According to an official statement, work under the 'CM Local Roads Programme' is progressing rapidly toward completion in various districts.
Mandatory Lane and Line Discipline
The chief minister declared compliance with lane and line discipline mandatory in all major cities. She emphasized that modern traffic management systems must be implemented in Lahore and other urban centers to improve road safety and traffic flow.
Major Transport Infrastructure Projects
Maryam Nawaz approved multi-billion-rupee transport infrastructure and bus stop projects in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Multan. Work is also underway on mass transit projects in Faisalabad and Gujranwala. Additionally, she made the installation of solar-powered streetlights mandatory on all newly constructed roads to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
The chief minister stated that mega projects have been launched to improve road infrastructure and modernize the transport sector throughout Punjab. More than 30,000 kilometers of roads have been constructed, repaired, or rehabilitated across the province. The restoration of major highways in Murree has been completed to facilitate tourists and local residents.
Tribute to Parents on Global Day of Parents
In a separate message on the occasion of the Global Day of Parents, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid rich tribute to parents, acknowledging their lifelong sacrifices, unconditional love, and key role in the upbringing and character-building of children. She extended greetings and respect to parents worldwide, noting that the day is observed to raise awareness about the rights, responsibilities, and respect associated with parenthood.
She said parents are the greatest blessing in life, and their love, prayers, and guidance remain a lifelong source of strength for children. She emphasized that parents play a fundamental role in shaping the values, behavior, and personalities of future generations.
