Sir Ben Kingsley: 'Beautiful and Deeply Happy' with Wife

Sir Ben Kingsley has opened up about his life with wife Daniela Lavender, describing it as "beautiful and deeply happy." In an interview with People while promoting his latest film Young Washington, the Oscar-winning actor credited much of his joy to his marriage with Lavender, whom he wed in 2007.

Six Projects in Development

Kingsley, 82, revealed that he and Lavender are collaborating on multiple creative ventures. "My life these days is beautiful and deeply happy and full of blessings," he said. "I'm married to a wonderful woman who's a writer and we are developing six projects." The couple runs their production company, Lavender Pictures, and Kingsley is expanding his role behind the scenes by moving into producing.

Balancing Work and Personal Life

Despite juggling numerous film projects and international travel, Kingsley said the pair has found a healthy balance between work and personal life in the English countryside. When asked how they manage it all, he joked, "Not very successfully," before adding with a laugh, "I'm being a little facetious. I think we balance it very well indeed."

No Plans to Stop Acting

While embracing producing, Kingsley has no intention of retiring from acting. "I won't stop acting unless I get shot in the leg and put down like an old horse," he quipped. He emphasized that he and Lavender "love what we're doing and we love storytelling." The couple regularly exchanges creative ideas, and Kingsley said one of the first things he plans to do after his promotional tour is read the newest pages of Lavender's script and offer feedback.

Upcoming Projects

Kingsley recently starred as Robert Dinwiddie in Young Washington and reprised his Marvel role as Trevor Slattery in Wonder Man. He is also set to appear in Fortitude, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and the fourth season of HBO's The White Lotus.

A Shared Passion for Filmmaking

After nearly two decades of marriage, Kingsley said his partnership with Lavender remains rooted in a shared passion for filmmaking and storytelling, allowing them to build both a successful creative collaboration and a fulfilling life together.
