Actor Komal Aziz Khan has shared that she moved out of her family home one-and-a-half years ago, urging Pakistani society to normalise independence. In a candid Instagram Q&A session, she detailed her living situation and challenged traditional expectations.
Living Independently with Best Friend and Cat
Komal revealed she now lives with her best friend and cat, while her family resides close by and frequently sends homemade food. “I moved out of my family home 1.5 years ago. I now live with my best friend and cat. Family lives close by and sends me homemade food all the time. Best life ever!” she wrote.
Challenging Societal Norms
The actor addressed the misconception that moving out equates to abandoning family. “Dear Pakistanis, moving out of the house is not leaving family. Even baby birds fly out of the nest when they can fly. I did not leave my family. I just got my own place. You all should try it. Especially the married ones,” she wrote.
No Pressure to Marry
Komal also spoke about marriage pressure, stating she feels none from anyone. “I don’t feel any pressure from anyone. I only know how to give pressure. I have a very strong sense of self and only I decide what I want in my life. Not society,” she wrote.
Challenges of Independence for Women
Reflecting on the difficulties women face, Komal emphasised the need for stubbornness and hard work. “You have to be very very very stubborn. Society is not easy for women to survive in. Only very headstrong, stubborn women can survive. Also work very hard. This road to freedom isn’t easy,” she wrote.
Focus on Personal Life and Brand
Komal recently stepped back from acting to focus on her personal life and her clothing brand, Omal by Komal. Her comments highlight the importance of independence and personal choice, sparking discussion in Pakistan about societal expectations for women.
