Contestant Removed Following Controversy
Love Island USA contestant Alannah Keyser has been reportedly dismissed from the Peacock reality series after a resurfaced video appeared to show her using a racial slur. The 21-year-old continued to appear in recent episodes after the video surfaced online, but a production source told The US Sun that she has since been removed from the programme.
Editing and Reduction of Screen Time
According to the source, producers edited episodes filmed before the controversy emerged to minimize Keyser's presence. “Producers edited Alannah out as much as possible from episodes that were pre-taped before the resurfaced racial slur video was exposed,” the source said. “She couldn’t be removed completely, but her scenes were significantly trimmed down in Tuesday’s episode.” The source further claimed that Keyser would no longer appear in episodes from Thursday onward. “Producers were disappointed and embarrassed that this has become another mishap,” they added.
Background of the Controversy
Keyser entered Season 8 as one of the new contestants introduced during the Casa Amor segment, where male islanders met a new group of women. Shortly after her debut, social media users circulated a video in which she allegedly sang along to a song containing the N-word. Additionally, a resurfaced Instagram comment showed Keyser allegedly using the same term. It remains unclear when either incident took place.
No Public Comment from Keyser
Keyser has not publicly commented on the allegations. However, her father, Stephane Keyser, defended her in comments to TMZ, stating that she was “definitely not racist” and describing her as an “educated sweetheart.”
Second Controversy This Season
The reported removal marks the second controversy involving a Love Island USA contestant this season. Last month, Vasana Montgomery was reportedly dropped from the programme before filming began after videos emerged allegedly showing her singing the N-word in song lyrics.
