Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem distributed modern laptops among 21 children of police martyrs during a ceremony held at the Central Police Office. The event reaffirmed the Punjab Police’s commitment to supporting the families of personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Laptop Distribution Initiative
The IGP stated that a total of 329 children of police martyrs have been provided laptops through Punjab Police welfare funds. This includes 127 beneficiaries during the current year. He emphasized that the laptops would help students pursuing higher education and modern technology-related fields enhance their academic performance, professional development, and digital skills.
Welfare Measures for Martyrs’ Families
Abdul Kareem said that Punjab Police is utilizing additional resources to ensure the welfare and well-being of martyrs’ families. He added that scholarships are also being provided to the children of police martyrs for studies at national and international educational institutions.
Beneficiaries from Across Punjab
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the beneficiaries included students from Lahore, Sheikhupura, Jhang, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Okara, Muzaffargarh, and various police units. These units include Telecommunications Punjab, CTD, Punjab Highway Patrol, and Police Training School Sargodha.
In a related development, the Punjab Assembly is set to go paperless as tablets have been installed for its members. Additionally, the Lahore Development Authority has sealed 128 properties in a crackdown on illegal commercial activities.
