GoFundMe for Lego collector hits $200K amid dispute

A GoFundMe campaign initiated by YouTuber Reckless Ben for Oregon collector Bryan Mansell and his 83-year-old father has exceeded $200,000, surpassing the reported value of the Lego collection at the center of an ongoing dispute involving a Bricks & Minifigs franchise. The fundraiser aims to cover legal expenses and support efforts to recover a Lego Star Wars collection that Mansell and his father spent over a decade assembling.

Details of the Collection

According to the campaign, the collection comprises approximately 780 Lego sets and more than 1,200 minifigures. The collection has been widely reported as being worth around $200,000, though Bricks & Minifigs has contested that valuation, arguing that subsequent documentation indicated a lower figure.

Origin of the Dispute

The conflict arose from a consignment-style arrangement with a Bricks & Minifigs store in Keizer, Oregon. Mansell alleges that the collection was not returned following a dispute linked to franchise ownership changes and corporate intervention in late 2024.

Police Involvement

The American Fork Police Department issued a public statement regarding Reckless Ben, whose real name is Benjamin Schneider. Police said they responded to complaints from a Bricks & Minifigs employee and his family, not the underlying business dispute. Authorities claimed probable cause to arrest Schneider on allegations including stalking and targeted residential picketing under Utah law.

In response, Schneider disputed the department's account in a recent YouTube video, criticized the release of heavily redacted body-camera footage, and called for the publication of unedited recordings. The Lego collection remains unrecovered, while the wider dispute and related legal proceedings continue.
