The Sindh government has decided to transform its pilot employment initiative, 'I Work for Sindh,' into a permanent government programme, marking a step towards expanding job opportunities for the province's youth through a centralised digital platform.
Decision Announced at High-Level Meeting
The decision was announced at a high-level meeting of the Information Department chaired by Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon. Participants agreed on a comprehensive strategy to strengthen and modernise the platform, with a focus on improving access to employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors for young people across Sindh.
Portal Statistics and Impact
Addressing the meeting, Sharjeel Inam Memon said I Work for Sindh had rapidly evolved into an effective digital bridge between job seekers and employers. He revealed that the portal has recorded more than 4.8 million visits, with over 113,000 registered job seekers and 670 registered companies. According to the minister, the platform currently hosts 11,100 active vacancies, while a total of 20,800 jobs have been posted since its launch. More than 419,000 job applications have also been submitted through the portal.
Features and Future Plans
He said the platform offers an automated CV-building facility and includes a 'Learn and Earn' feature designed to help young people develop marketable skills. The government also plans to introduce live career counselling sessions led by industry experts, providing users with professional guidance, career planning and employment advice.
