A 5.2-magnitude earthquake rattled Balochistan's Barkhan district and surrounding areas on Saturday, leaving three people injured and causing structural damage, according to officials.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake struck at a depth of 19 kilometres, with its epicentre located 58 kilometres northeast of Barkhan. Tremors were felt in Kohlu, Rakhni, and Musa Khel districts, triggering panic among residents.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that the roof of a hotel collapsed in Gangri, an area in Musa Khel district, injuring two labourers. Additionally, the house of a resident named Fazal in northern Gangri collapsed, leaving one person injured. Police confirmed that all injured individuals were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Administrative officials and rescue teams rushed to the affected areas. The injured were provided with necessary medical facilities, and the PDMA stated that district administrations were directed to assess damage, expedite relief activities, and conduct surveys to evaluate further losses.

This earthquake follows a 4.2-magnitude tremor recorded in Balochistan's Sibi district a day earlier, which caused no casualties or property damage. A few days prior, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad and parts of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, though no losses were reported despite panic in cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
