The central blood bank in Qassim, in cooperation with the Blood Banks Friends Charity, has launched a home blood donation service specifically for individuals with rare blood types. This initiative allows donors to give blood from the comfort of their homes, with qualified medical teams operating to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Service Details and Objectives
The scheme is expected to improve response times, enhance emergency preparedness, and strengthen the strategic reserve of rare blood units. By bringing the donation process to donors' homes, the service aims to make it more convenient for those with rare blood types to contribute regularly.
World Blood Donor Day Activities
Last month, the charity organized World Blood Donor Day activities across its centers throughout the Kingdom to raise awareness of blood donation and encourage regular donations. Observed globally each year on June 14, the activities included blood donation campaigns, free medical examinations, and awareness booths.
The charity highlighted that every blood donation helps save lives and called on community members to take part in and support this humanitarian mission.
