The Punjab Police's digital service centers have witnessed an overwhelming public response at the start of the new year, with more than 170,000 citizens across the province utilizing various online policing facilities in just the first 17 days of 2024. This significant figure underscores a major shift in public reliance towards modern, technology-driven mechanisms for accessing police services.
Breakdown of Services Availed by Citizens
According to a detailed report released by a Punjab Police spokesperson, the services were widely used for a range of essential needs. The most sought-after service was general police verification, with a total of 76,807 citizens obtaining these clearances. Following closely, police character certificates were issued to 39,431 individuals.
Other critical services that saw high demand included tenant registration, which benefited 25,107 citizens, and the issuance of 4,337 medico-legal certificates. Furthermore, 1,975 citizens used the centers for vehicle verification purposes.
Special Initiatives and Legal Support
The Police Khidmat Marakaz also played a crucial role in supporting vulnerable segments of society. Under special initiatives, legal and social protection was provided to 4,943 individuals. The centers facilitated other important administrative and legal functions, including:
- Registration of 4,851 reports for lost documents.
- Lodging of 93 crime reports directly at the centers.
- Issuance of 7,215 copies of FIRs to citizens.
- Registration of three specific cases related to violence against women.
On the employment front, a significant number of 5,185 citizens completed their registration under the Employees Registration (ROPE) program, while 84 individuals obtained police verification for private sector jobs.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the Police Khidmat Marakaz represent a flagship initiative of the Punjab Police, designed to deliver quality public services round the clock. He noted that millions of citizens in Lahore and across the province's districts benefit from these facilities every month.
Dr. Anwar reaffirmed the department's commitment to evolution, stating that services at the Khidmat Marakaz are being continuously upgraded based on direct feedback from citizens. The goal is to further enhance transparency, efficiency, and ease of access, making the police force more responsive and service-oriented.
This massive uptake in the first weeks of the year signals a successful integration of digital solutions in policing, setting a new standard for public service delivery in the province.
