A video that went viral on multiple social media platforms since Sunday, purportedly showing a woman opening fire after a man on a motorcycle allegedly tries to approach her, has been confirmed as AI-generated. The clip, which accumulated hundreds of thousands of views, was debunked by iVerify Pakistan, a project of the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ-IBA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
How the Viral Video Spread
On Sunday, a social media user on X shared a video depicting a man on a motorcycle approaching a woman walking on the street. The man performs a 180-degree drift to close in, after which the woman, clad in a burka, pulls out a gun and fires in his direction, causing him to flee. The post attracted 333,000 views. An Indian account shared the same video on Instagram, gaining about 171,000 likes. Another Instagram user posted it, receiving 34,300 likes. On X, an Indian user captioned it: “When a Karan Johar’s movie hero meets Anurag Kashyap’s movie heroine,” gaining 170,000 views. The video was also shared on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other platforms, collectively amassing over 10,000 views across multiple posts.
Fact-Checking Methodology
Due to the video’s high virality and public interest, iVerify Pakistan initiated a fact-check. Frame-by-frame analysis revealed several visual discrepancies. The man’s motorcycle stops in an unusually smooth 180-degree drift with no skid marks on the road. At the 1-second mark, the gun suddenly appears in the woman’s hand, as if morphing into the frame. At the 4-second mark, the dust cloud from the gunshot is unusually large and thick for an asphalt road, which would not produce such heavy dust. Similarly, when the man flees, the rear wheel kicks up excessive dust on a clean asphalt surface.
The video was analyzed using AI-detection tools. Hive Moderation labeled it 94.2% AI-generated, while Deepfake Detection rated it 97% AI-generated. Additionally, X marked one post containing the clip as AI-generated content. A reverse image search traced the video’s origin to an Instagram account that regularly posts similar AI-generated videos. The oldest instance found was posted on June 27, 2026.
Conclusion: False Claim
The claim that the viral video shows a real woman shooting a harasser on a motorcycle is false. The video is entirely AI-generated. iVerify Pakistan urges the public to verify such content before sharing to prevent the spread of misinformation.
