Saudi Arabia Joins Global AI Governance Dialogue

Saudi Arabia will take part in the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held on the sidelines of the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 6 to 7. The Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday that the dialogue will gather ministers, policymakers, international organizations, private sector representatives, academia, and civil society from around the world.

Delegation Led by Minister Al-Swaha

The Saudi delegation will be headed by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha. The delegation includes Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority; Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, Saudi Arabia's permanent representative to the UN and international organizations in Geneva; and Latifa bint Mohammed Al-Abdulkarim, a member of the Saudi Shura Council and the UN High-Level Advisory Body on AI. Representatives from the Saudi Human Rights Commission and the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication will also participate.

Reinforcing Vision 2030 Goals

This participation highlights Saudi Arabia's growing role in information technology, data, and AI, and its progress in building a national AI ecosystem under Vision 2030. It also reinforces the Kingdom's position as an active contributor to international efforts to shape responsible AI governance.

Objectives of the Dialogue

Through the dialogue, Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen international cooperation, exchange expertise, promote inclusive and trustworthy AI, expand equitable access to AI technologies, and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
