Rockstar Games Officially Sets GTA 6 Price
Rockstar Games has ended months of speculation by officially confirming the price of Grand Theft Auto VI. The game will launch at $79.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, a $10 increase over the current $69.99 standard for major current-generation titles. Additionally, a $99.99 Ultimate Edition has been announced, bundling extra content.
Single-Player Campaign Confirmed at Launch
Rockstar confirmed that GTA 6 will feature a single-player experience at launch. However, no details have been provided regarding a new version of GTA Online, suggesting the existing online service may continue operating alongside the GTA 6 release later this year.
Pre-Order Details and Bonuses
Pre-orders for GTA 6 are scheduled to begin at midnight local time on June 25. Rockstar has revealed pre-order bonuses and Ultimate Edition contents, though specifics vary by platform and retailer. The pricing announcement follows industry debate about whether Rockstar would charge up to $100 for the standard edition. While the final price is lower, analysts suggest the move could influence pricing strategies across the wider gaming industry.
Physical Editions Lack Game Discs
In a separate announcement, Rockstar confirmed that physical editions of GTA 6 will not include a game disc. Instead, boxed copies will contain a digital download code, reflecting the industry's ongoing shift towards digital distribution.
New Promotional Materials Released
Rockstar released new promotional materials, including official cover art, fresh screenshots, and additional views of Vice City, offering fans a closer look at the game's setting ahead of its planned November 19 launch.
