Multan Hosts Prestigious All Pakistan Long Range Shooting Championship
The seventh edition of the All Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah Open Long Range Shooting Championship – Chief of Army Staff Cup 2026 concluded with remarkable success in Multan. Organized under the auspices of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association, the championship unfolded from February 13 to 15, drawing elite marksmen from across the nation.
National Participation and Competitive Spirit
A total of 61 accomplished marksmen representing all four provinces of Pakistan participated in this premier shooting event. Notably, a 15-member contingent from Balochistan demonstrated the championship's nationwide appeal. Participants exhibited extraordinary skill and composure across eight demanding long-range rifle matches, with distances ranging from 300 to 1,000 yards. Despite facing challenging weather conditions throughout the competition, all competitors performed admirably, showcasing the high standards of marksmanship in Pakistan.
Champions Crowned Across Multiple Categories
In the principal championship categories, several shooters emerged victorious:
- Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar secured the prestigious Full Target Rifle Trophy.
- Waleed Gul claimed the F-Class Freestyle Open Trophy.
- Lieutenant General Ehsan Gulrez triumphed in the Tactical Match.
- Noor Zaman emerged victorious in the Iron Sight Rifle Match.
Individual Event Victories and National Records
The individual events witnessed intense competition with multiple winners:
- Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar won the 300-metre Sporting Rifle Match.
- Lieutenant General Ahsan Gulrez secured first position in the 900-yard FTR Match.
- Junaid Waqas Iqbal claimed the first 1,000-yard FTR Match.
- Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar won the second 1,000-yard FTR Match.
- Waleed Ahmed Gul secured first place in both 1,000-yard F-Open Matches (Nos. 1 and 2).
Most significantly, national records were shattered during the championship:
- Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Ali Zulfikar set a new national record in the FTR Aggregate category.
- Waleed Ahmed Gul established new national records in both the F-Open 1,000-yard category and the F-Open Aggregate.
Closing Ceremony and Future Commitments
At the closing ceremony, distinguished guests and senior members of the shooting community presented medals and trophies to the successful competitors, recognizing their outstanding performances. The Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association reaffirmed its strong commitment to promoting long-range rifle shooting across the country. Looking ahead, the national long-range rifle team is scheduled to participate in the 7th F-Class World Championship to be held in the United Kingdom in August 2026, representing Pakistan on the international stage.
