Waraich Maintains Lead in National Golf Championship
Muhammad Minhaj Maqsood Waraich has solidified his position at the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the 15th Rashid D. Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament. The event, hosted at the Karachi Golf Club, saw Waraich deliver a consistent performance, carding a 70 (two-under-par) to bring his two-round total to 138 (six-under). This achievement underscores his increasing maturity and command on Pakistan's professional golf scene.
Close Contenders Emerge in Competitive Field
Hot on Waraich's heels is Hamza Taimur Amin of RGCC, who matched his first-round score with another 70 (-2). Amin demonstrated both resilience and attacking prowess, notably scoring a remarkable eagle on the par-five 10th hole, complemented by birdies on holes 5, 9, 15, and 18.
Defending champion Ahmad Baig (RPG) made a significant comeback in the second round, rebounding from a modest start to shoot an impressive 68 (four-under-par). His aggressive and confident play propelled him into a joint third place with a total of 141 (three-under), featuring birdies on holes 1, 2, 13, and 18.
Field Narrowed as Tournament Intensifies
With 106 professionals initially competing, the field has been trimmed to 52 players after two rounds, setting the stage for a highly competitive third round at one of Pakistan's most challenging golf venues. The Karachi Golf Club course, combined with variable wind conditions, has rigorously tested players' tactical awareness and endurance, rewarding those who can adapt swiftly and maintain composure under pressure.
As the tournament advances, focus remains sharply on the leaderboard, where a mix of experienced veterans and rising stars are vying for victory. With several contenders within striking distance of the lead, the pursuit of this prestigious golf title promises an exhilarating and closely contested conclusion.
