Andreeva, Kostyuk reach French Open semifinals

PARIS - Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva produced one of the most dominant performances of the tournament to power into the French Open semifinals on Tuesday, while Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk made history by becoming the first Ukrainian woman to reach the last four at Roland Garros.

Andreeva's Dominant Display

Nineteen-year-old Andreeva needed just 56 minutes to overwhelm Romania's Sorana Cirstea 6-0, 6-3 on Court Philippe-Chatrier, extending her remarkable run in Paris and strengthening her credentials as a serious contender for a maiden Grand Slam title. The Russian was ruthless from the outset, racing through the opening set in only 24 minutes before closing out the contest in emphatic fashion.

Kostyuk Makes History

Andreeva's victory set up a highly anticipated semifinal clash with Kostyuk, who defeated compatriot Elina Svitolina in an emotional all-Ukrainian quarterfinal. Kostyuk battled to a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory, achieving a historic breakthrough for Ukrainian tennis amid the continuing backdrop of the war in her homeland. Following the win, the 23-year-old dedicated her achievement to the people of Ukraine.

Sabalenka and Shnaider Advance

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka also remained firmly on course for the title. The Belarusian world number one is through to the semifinals and will face Russian Diana Shnaider in the last four after both players successfully navigated their quarterfinal assignments.

Zverev Cruises into Semifinals

In the men's competition, second seed Alexander Zverev strengthened his position as one of the favourites for the title by defeating Spain's Rafael Jodar 7-6(3), 6-1, 6-3. After a closely contested opening set, the German took control of the match to reach a fifth consecutive Roland Garros semifinal.

Unpredictable Men's Draw

Elsewhere, attention remained focused on an increasingly unpredictable men's draw. With defending champion Carlos Alcaraz absent, world number one Jannik Sinner already eliminated and Novak Djokovic out of contention, the tournament is guaranteed to crown a new men's singles champion. Italian tennis continues to enjoy a landmark tournament, with Matteo Berrettini, Matteo Arnaldi and Flavio Cobolli all reaching the latter stages, underlining Italy's growing strength on the biggest stage.
