Punjab Boosts Worker Support: Marriage & Death Grants See Major Hike
Punjab Raises Marriage, Death Grants for Workers

In a significant move aimed at bolstering the financial security of its labor force, the Punjab government has announced a substantial increase in two key welfare grants for workers and their families.

Enhanced Financial Aid for Major Life Events

The provincial Labour Department has officially confirmed the revisions. The financial assistance provided for the marriage of a worker's child has been significantly raised. The marriage grant has been increased from Rs400,000 to Rs600,000, offering more substantial support to families during this important celebration.

Similarly, recognizing the financial strain following the loss of a breadwinner, the government has also enhanced the death grant. This grant, provided to the heirs of a deceased worker, has been raised from Rs800,000 to Rs1,000,000.

A Commitment to Worker Welfare

A spokesperson for the government stated that this initiative is a core part of Punjab's ongoing strategy to support the working class. The primary goal is to improve the welfare of workers and their families, helping them manage major life events with greater financial ease and stability.

This decision underscores the government's commitment to strengthening social protection measures across the province. By providing this enhanced financial support, the authorities aim to ensure that workers and their loved ones are better cushioned against the economic challenges associated with these significant occasions.
