Pakistan Meteorological Department Issues Weather Forecast for Next 24 Hours
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released a comprehensive weather forecast for the upcoming 24 hours, predicting predominantly cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country. However, the Met Office has highlighted specific regional variations, including fog, rain, and snowfall in certain areas.
Weather Patterns Across Different Provinces
According to the PMD, most districts of Punjab are expected to remain cold and dry, with partly cloudy skies anticipated in the Pothohar region. Notably, patchy fog is likely to develop during the morning and night hours in several cities, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, and Bahawalpur. In contrast, Murree, Galiyat, and adjoining areas are forecast to experience very cold and partly cloudy conditions, with potential rain and snowfall during the evening and night.
In Sindh, cold and dry weather is predicted to prevail in most districts. However, patchy fog may form in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Mohenjodaro, and Jacobabad during the morning and night periods. This adds a layer of complexity to the otherwise stable weather pattern in the province.
Upper Regions to Experience Rain and Snowfall
The upper parts of the country, including Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northwestern Balochistan, are likely to see more dynamic weather conditions. The PMD forecasts rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over hilly areas. Specifically, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cloudy conditions with light rain and light snowfall are expected in Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Buner, Khyber, Bajaur, Kurram, and Waziristan. The rest of the province is anticipated to have partly cloudy and cold weather.
Balochistan is set to receive rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms, along with snowfall in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Qalat, and Musakhel. Additionally, rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan. Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to experience cloudy weather with isolated rain and snowfall.
Islamabad and Surrounding Areas
Islamabad and its surrounding areas are predicted to remain partly cloudy and cold, aligning with the general trend of chilly conditions across the nation. This forecast underscores the need for residents to prepare for varying weather impacts, from fog-related travel disruptions to potential snowfall in elevated regions.
Overall, the PMD's update serves as a crucial advisory for citizens and authorities to stay informed and take necessary precautions against the cold, fog, and precipitation expected in different parts of Pakistan over the next day.
