Lahore DC Reviews LDP Phase-II Development Projects

Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, has issued clear directives to expedite all development initiatives falling under the ambitious Lahore Development Programme (LDP) Phase-II. He stressed that while pace is crucial, the quality of work, transparency in processes, and adherence to timelines must not be compromised in projects across the provincial capital.

Review Meeting Assesses Progress

The instructions were given during a comprehensive review meeting held on Sunday. The session was attended by key officials including Assistant Commissioners, Zonal Officers, representatives from NESPAK, and officials from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA). The DC was provided with a detailed briefing on the current status of numerous ongoing schemes.

These schemes encompass a wide range of civic improvements such as street rehabilitation, upgrades to sewerage and drainage systems, the construction of PCC roads, and the installation of modern street lighting. The development work is actively progressing in nine major zones of the city: Nishtar, Ravi, Data Ganj Bakhsh, Samanabad, Gulberg, Shalimar, Allama Iqbal, Wagah, and Aziz Bhatti.

Current Achievements and Targets

Significant progress has already been made in several areas. Officials reported that under the LDP Phase-II, being executed by the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), a total of 3,079 individual schemes are currently in the implementation phase. In a notable achievement, 1,483 street lights have been installed in Nishtar Zone, while Ravi Zone has seen 580 new street lights fitted, bringing better safety and visibility to residents.

Strict Directives for Quality and Cleanliness

DC Syed Musa Raza laid out specific priorities for the teams on the ground. He emphasized the need for daily monitoring of both work quality and speed. Finding solutions for sewerage and drainage problems was declared a top priority to prevent urban flooding and ensure public health.

He also ordered the swift completion of street light installation projects and the immediate removal of construction debris from sites to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize public inconvenience. The Deputy Commissioner issued a stern warning against the use of substandard materials in any project, stating that strict legal and administrative action would be taken against any individuals or contractors found violating quality standards.

This rigorous review underscores the administration's commitment to transforming Lahore's infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens through the timely and transparent completion of the LDP Phase-II.
