In a landmark verdict, an Anti-Terrorism Court in Multan has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for a horrific acid attack in Lodhran district. The convict, Muhammad Asif, was also slapped with a hefty fine of Rs 1.5 million for the crime that left two individuals severely injured.
Swift Justice in a Heinous Crime
The court delivered its decisive verdict on Friday, bringing a rapid conclusion to a case that shocked the local community. The incident dates back to September 29, 2025, when Asif targeted Muhammad Yameen and his son Kamran in the Karor Pakka area. The assailant threw acid on the victims, inflicting grave burns and injuries.
Following the attack, a First Information Report (FIR No. 74/25) was registered against Asif under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including 336-B and 148/149. The Crime Control Department (CCD) in Lodhran took charge of the investigation, demonstrating commendable efficiency.
CCD's Efficient Investigation Leads to Arrest
The CCD team conducted a thorough and prompt probe, leading to the arrest of Muhammad Asif on October 15, 2025. The investigative work was so robust that it received full backing from the presiding judge during the trial. The court found the evidence presented by the prosecution compelling and found Asif guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Remarkably, the entire judicial process, from the registration of the case to the final verdict, was completed in just one month and 22 days. This expeditious timeline sets a significant precedent for handling such severe crimes.
A Strong Message Against Brutal Offenses
The stringent punishment reflects the judiciary's and law enforcement's hard stance against violent crimes. A senior CCD official, commenting on the verdict, emphasized that acid attacks are among the most brutal forms of violence. The official reiterated the department's zero-tolerance policy towards such offenses and its commitment to ensuring that perpetrators face the full force of the law.
This case serves as a critical reminder of the legal consequences awaiting those who commit acts of acid violence. The combined efforts of the CCD's investigative diligence and the court's unwavering application of justice have provided a measure of closure for the victims and their family, while sending a powerful deterrent message to society.
