In a major crackdown on pollution sources, the Environmental Protection Department launched a significant operation in Chiniot on Sunday, targeting illegal brick kilns that have been contributing to the region's smog crisis.

Acting under the direction of Deputy Director Dr. Hina, enforcement teams utilized heavy machinery to completely demolish three brick kiln facilities that were operating without the required environmental approvals. The operation specifically targeted Al Makkah Bricks located on Lali Road in Tehsil Lalian, along with Kundan Bricks and Ahmed Shah Bricks in Chenab Nagar.
According to officials, all three facilities were found to be operating without the mandatory zigzag emission-control technology, which has been made compulsory by provincial environmental regulations to reduce harmful emissions and combat smog formation.

"We are implementing the law without exception," she stated emphatically, adding that no kiln will be permitted to function without the approved zigzag system.
