A wanted criminal was shot dead during a police encounter in the Jaranwala tehsil of Faisalabad district. The incident unfolded when police personnel challenged two suspicious individuals, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
Details of the Police Encounter
According to a police spokesman on Monday, a police team had established a checkpoint near Chak No 642-GB. The situation escalated when two suspects arrived at the location on a motorcycle. Upon being signaled to stop by the officers, the suspects opened fire on the police party instead of complying.
Aftermath and Recoveries
The police returned fire in what they described as necessary retaliation. When the shooting ceased, one of the accused, identified as Qadir, was found dead at the scene. His accomplice, however, managed to flee under the cover of the confrontation. Authorities recovered the motorcycle used by the suspects, which was later confirmed to have been snatched from a local citizen in a previous crime. The body of the deceased dacoit was transported to a nearby hospital for legal formalities.

The police revealed that the slain individual, Qadir, was a notorious criminal with a significant record.
