Chiniot Cell Resolves 265+ Domestic Disputes in 2025

In a significant push to protect women's rights, the Anti-Women Harassment and Violence Cell in Chiniot has dramatically scaled up its operations across the district. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of Punjab's Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to create a safer environment for women. The cell has adopted a proactive stance, focusing on preventing violence, harassment, and abuse before they escalate.

Impactful Interventions and Case Resolution

Official statistics from 2025 reveal the cell's substantial impact. It received more than 600 applications from women seeking help. A major success has been in the realm of family harmony, where 265 cases related to domestic disputes were settled amicably through reconciliation processes. This intervention has played a crucial role in preventing the breakdown of family units.

Beyond domestic issues, the cell's mandate covers a wide spectrum of grievances. Authorities successfully addressed over 200 complaints concerning harassment, financial fraud, and other pressing matters. Furthermore, to uphold women's legal entitlements, the cell processed more than 150 applications dealing with contentious dowry disputes and sensitive child custody handovers.

Raising Awareness and Building Confidence

Recognizing that empowerment comes through knowledge, the cell has actively worked to educate the public. It has organized a series of seminars and awareness walks at schools, colleges, and other public spaces throughout Chiniot. These campaigns are designed to inform women about their rights and the support mechanisms available to them, thereby fostering a greater sense of confidence and security.

Official Reassurance and Digital Safety Nets

In an exclusive conversation with APP on Sunday, District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif underscored the commitment of the Punjab Police. He stated that the force is deploying all necessary resources to combat domestic violence, harassment, and abuse against women.

Dr. Atif also issued a vital public advisory, urging women in distress not to suffer in silence. He highlighted the importance of using official digital channels for immediate assistance. Women are encouraged to seek help through the Women Safety App, the Punjab Police Public App, or by contacting the designated emergency helplines in case of any threat or emergency.

The concerted efforts in Chiniot reflect a growing institutional focus on women's protection in Punjab, turning policy vision into tangible action on the ground.
