Punjab Speaker Hails CM Maryam's Performance, Electric Bus Plan

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan called on Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday and lauded her two-year performance, commending her initiative to introduce electric bus services at the tehsil level for the first time in the province. The chief minister said the speaker's efforts to modernise the assembly and digitise its record were remarkable. She also praised the role of Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan in ensuring quality legislation and conducting the assembly proceedings with prudence and efficiency.

Government's Public Service Agenda

"Our sole objective is to ensure that relief reaches every citizen of Punjab and to take the province to new heights of development," she said, adding that the implementation of the government's public service agenda would be accelerated. The speaker said the chief minister had, for the first time, ensured citizens' constitutional right to cleanliness and a better environment through the Suthra Punjab initiative.

International Recognition and Good Governance

He added that the international recognition received by the Suthra Punjab and Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programmes was a matter of pride for the province. He said the chief minister's performance was reflected in tangible results rather than rhetoric, adding that her government had established a model of rapid response and good governance in the province. He expressed confidence that the Punjab Assembly's budget session would reflect the aspirations of the people and prove to be another milestone in the province's development.

Empowerment of Women and Youth

He also described the chief minister's initiatives for the empowerment of women and youth as historic, saying that women in Punjab now felt safer and young people were more hopeful about their future.

Agricultural Initiatives

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was informed while chairing a meeting that the target of issuing one million Kissan Cards would be achieved by August 31 after the inclusion of 50,000 more farmers. It was decided that 1,500 more agriculture graduates would be inducted in the next phase of an internship programme.
